"Well, we can't just stay here and wait for something to happen," Fred
said. "It's up or down. Which seems better to you?" "I don't like the idea of down," Astra mused. "I've spent far too much time in caves lately, and it's probably dark. But it's dark upstairs, too. And if we go up, the pyramid gets smaller - which means less area to cover, but more chances for an enemy to trap us. All in all - I say we go down." "Down it is, then," Fred said. "Keep hold of my hand - we'll have to feel our way down to the next level." With clasped hands, Fred and Astra cautiously began descending the stairs. The stairwell itself was narrow enough that even with joined hands, they could each reach out and touch the side, which they did every few steps. After a few minutes, they reached the next level down. By now, their eyes had adjusted somewhat to the lack of light, and they were able see that there was a corridor that led straight ahead, and another that angled off. "Which way now?" Astra asked.
