As if Astra had somehow sensed that Fred was awake, she woke up only a minute or two afterwards. "Good morning, Fred," she said. "Did you sleep well?"

"Good morning, Astra. It took me a little time to drop off, but after that I slept surprisingly well considering how hungry I feel. How about you? Any dreams?"

"For once, none that I can remember. And I slept very well, thank you... Hey, look over there!"

In the direction in which she was pointing:

1. Someone was approaching them. They had not expected to encounter anyone here, seemingly in the middle of nowhere.
2. Was a food delivery from the gods.
3. Was something strange.
