Exotica heard a voice which seemed to come from an enormous distance
away. "Tell me who you are, who your companions are, and how you come to
be in this land," the voice said. She found it was impossible to defy the
voice.
Since they were still covered by the man's strange weapon, Fred and Astra were powerless to intervene as Exotica began to speak. Besides, Astra was very much aware that there was another risk if they tried to stop Exotica, besides the obvious one of being shot. It would jeopardise their chance of being taken aboard the vessel. And she would much prefer to be a prisoner but alive than being free but frozen to death. The others were not very warmly dressed, unless you counted Velus's fur, but she was not dressed at all. "I am Princess Exotica of Allaria," Exotica began. "My companions are Princess Astra of Aqualaria, Lord Frederigo D'Honaire, and Velus, who is a boy enchanted into the form of a dog." The man held up a hand, and Exotica paused. "Not just one princess but two!" the man said. "This could be very profitable." He turned to Astra. "You seem to have forgotten your coronet, Princess... amongst other things." "Very droll," Astra said. "Now please can we come on board before I freeze to death? For if you want our full story, then that is going to take quite some time to tell."
