Rami Awakes

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 46281

At that moment, Rami came to, moaning. Where was she? Obviously, she must be on the beach somewhere, she felt soft sand under her and yet she heard a crackling fire nearby. She cursed inwardly as she felt how beautiful the air around her felt, and realized that she wouldn't be able to see anything due to the fact that her stupid glasses were gone. She had always wished that she could go further out in the country, so that she could have a fuller view of the stars. She heard some man's voice talking about fresh water. It sounded very familiar. She realized that she could use probably some fresh water.

"Look! She's awake!" said Amy. Rami tried to say hi, but all she could manage was a groan.

"Are you well?" said the male voice. Rami felt the clasp of an armored hand on her arm. She began to feel ill. This was depressingly familiar... She then recognized just where she'd heard that voice before. "Fred?" she mumured, her voice too weak to be forceful but filled with weakened anger and perhaps a hint of longing.

"You know me?" said Fred's voice, which somehow sounded older. Rami was really glad that she couldn't see Fred right now, as that was about the last thing she wanted to see. What was he doing here, anyway? She'd just broken up with--oh, right. It all came back to her, causing her to groan louder. This must be his counterpart from some other universe. Somehow, it seemed to her that dragons and parallel universes shouldn't mix. "Everyone, even in, uh, far-off lands like mine, has heard of the legendary, what was it again? Yeah, Dragonslayer Lord Frederigo D'Honaire?" She managed not to snicker at his full name. She was sure she would have liked it had it belonged to a character in a book, but it always sounded so silly when he actually said it. Was she in Fred's world now? She actually had believed Fred's story of being from some kind of fantasy world, since the society he'd described had sounded so convincing. If he was insane, he would have to be great at world-building, and insane people seldom were.

Fred hmmed, but seemed to be content at what Rami had said. Even if this wasn't her Fred, his ego seemed as big as ever. "We really have to get some water for them soon," said Amy. (The other amy, Rami guessed. Should she be Amy 1 or Amy 2? Rami thought of her Amy as Amy 1, but the other Amy would feel the same way. Well, they'd sort it out once they all had something to drink.)

"I know that," said Fred. "One of us shall have to go search for a source of fresh water, and one of us watch over your sisters. I think you should search for the water and I should watch over your sisters. They are weakened and so will need someone who is quite strong to protect them. Also, you will be leaving the fire and going into the darkness. I do not have my torches, and doubt I shall be able to handle that lighter of yours as well as you. I know you are not armed nor schooled in arms, but for that reason I think it is I who should guard over your sisters. Do you think you could escape if you found any dangers?"

"Yeah, I guess I've gotten pretty good at that," said Amy.

  1. Amy goes off to find fresh water, and manages to find a spring fairly quickly.
  2. But Amy does not return to Fred and the others after a very long time.
  3. Help
