Sir Fred being tired, and he smiled at the thought of playing cards.
Bert gestured the both of the them to his tilted table. He filled their
mugs with strong black rum.
Jack Sparrow shuffled the deck, "You mean you never heard of Captain Jack
Sparrow, the story of the Black Pearl?"
"No,"Snorted Bert. "I have heard of Henry Morgan the king of the pirates."
"Oh...yeah everyone has heard of him the King of the Pirates, the most
ruthless, daring and the most feared. But I am the Great Captain Jack Sparrow."
Then Bert yawn.
"As for eats, I have a pot of reds." He pointed at the fireplace.
Then he turned to Sir Fred and punched him on the shoulder, "Hey Puff I
bet you never play a real man's game before?"
Sir Fred wined, "I know how play cards...I am the knight of the realm not
the court jester."
"Oh," winked Bert, then he asked, " You mean there's a difference between a
knight and a court jester?"
Sir Fred frown at his question.
Outside, the rain began to fall, Sir Fred stared at his cards a pair of deuces.
Bert seemed to humming to himself and Jack smiled wickly at his hand. Why
did he have to have a crap hand? Sir Fred thought.
Bert belched after he tapped his fingers at the table, "Mmmmmm," He
gestured for two cards.
Jack grinned,"The Revenant are out to night, if you listen beneath the
rain, you can hear their death chats." He seemed to be smiling at his hand.
"Yes there be a rumor that their leader is none other than the ruthless
Captain Anne Bonny, seeking revenge of her husband's death James Bonny who
was hung by the Reverand Trasks. She is using religious zealist to gain
control of the area with fear." Before Bert could say more, a
clapped of thunder crashed.
"I heard that their leader was Black Bellamy." Jack remarked.
Bert retorted, "Whoever it is, he or she wears a mask."
"Tell me more about the Revenant?" asked Sir Fred.
Bert gave a wicked smile, "All in good time, Sir Fred, I am not good in
drunk to tell the tale of the Revenant." Then he pointed his left side of
his face, a deep scar above his eye.
A flash of streaked lightening lit up the night sky, then came a blast of
thunder. It was quite chilly in the cottage. The fire in the fireplace, was
barely exhibiting much heat. It was good to have black rum on night like
this. It would be better still to have a nice woman to be with.
Sir Fred could not believe his stupid luck, he had a pair of deuces. He
could not decide to fold or to bid.
