The Bettys and Gloria watched anxiously as the meld took place. After both Stacy and Spock had stood motionless and glassy-eyed for several minutes, they seemed to come back to life and Spock removed his hands from Stacy's temples.

"Unlikely as it may seem, Captain, it seems that Ms Jones is indeed from an alternate reality. Even though she has the same name and an identical body to our own Ensign Jones, she has a totally different - and very strange - set of memories. It is logical to assume, therefore, that her friends are telling the truth when they claim that the same applies to them...
