As if to emphasise Kirk's words, at that moment the ship shuddered as the shields absorbed the impact of a Klingon torpedo.

1. The four just stood there, not having any idea which of the empty seats on the bridge they were supposed to occupy. This did nothing to improve Kirk's temper.
2. The four found that they somehow knew what they were supposed to do.
