Subduing the Doctor

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 42819

“Okay, well...in that case.” Astra, with amazing speed, took the putrescent concoction Fred had called ‘clam chowder’ and threw it’s scalding contents at this ‘Dr. Demento’s’ face. She hit her mark precisely.

“Treacherous whore!” he thundered, writhing about in agony. “Motherless slut! You shall pay for this insolence!”

Astra, not missing a beat, tackled the man and promptly went about pummeling his face into a bloody pulp. “Undo the hex on Fred! This instant!” she commanded him. “Quit sobbing, you little wimp! Undo the hex!”

“Madam!? Must you resort to violence!?” Fred objected, circling about the spectacle like a chicken with it’s head cut off. “Oh my! Oh me! This is awful! I never meant for my clam chowder to be used as a weapon of war! If it pleases madam, I shall serve the second course of garlic bread and salad!”

But Astra seemed to be deaf to Fred’s pleas. She tightened her grip on the Doctor’s neck and repeated her inexorable demands. The Doctor merely wept, insisting that “I’m not a violent person! Please make the pain stop! I was just joking about the ‘treacherous whore’ and ‘making you pay’ comments I made. I like to joke! I’m a jokester! A real wise guy!”

“If you want the pain to stop, release Fred from the spell,” she spat.

Begrudgingly, the self- proclaimed ‘mesmerist’ obeyed, but explained that undoing the spell would take some effort...and that he would need to consult his books of lore. Astra grew suspicious. “Do you actually think I’m going to let you look through your books so you can work more mischief!?”

“I was hoping so,” he admitted. “Or maybe, I dunno, you could look deep into my eyes? That’s it! You’re getting very sleeeeepy...”

Astra punched the man once more, for good measure. “Fred! Get me some rope!”

Fred stalled. “But...madam! It isn’t right to tie people up! Please, eat your dinner...”

“FRED! GET ME SOME ROPE! And quit calling me madam!!”

“But of course!” And at that, he scurried back into the kitchen and went about the task.

  1. In a matter of moments, Fred returned with a coil of rope...
  2. Seconds passed, then minutes. There was no sign of Fred.
