Rebirth and Redeath

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 41888

The Dragoness brought Fred into a massive room filled with magical items and medical instruments and such. "Take off your armor and lie down on that operating table." the Dragoness commanded.

When Fred hesitated, the Dragoness coughed, and three hideous, slavering little troll-creatures emerged from under a rock and started shuffling toward him. They laughed maniacally as they approached. "Allright, I'll do it!" Fred exclaimed quickly, and started taking off his armor. The little troll-creatures groaned in disappointment and retreated to watch from the shadows.

Without his armor on, and being a female, Fred felt uniquely exposed and vulnerable. He modestly covered his breasts and blushed as he shifted his weight to one foot. "What now?" asked in the most innocently feminine voice he could muster.

"Now you're being ridiculous. I told you, lie down on the table."

Fred obeyed. He was sweating and his heart was racing. Was there no escape? "Um... I forgot to tell you. I'm severely allergic to having my mind erased." he said, near-hysterical.

"Don't worry, silly. Your mind is going to go to wherever it is that erased minds go. Do you believe in an afterlife?"

"Not really." Fred said.

"Well, you're about to find out, little one."

"What do you mean?" Fred asked. "Isn't this going to be just like a case of amnesia? I'll forget everything, but the quality that makes me uniquely me is still going to be there, right?"

"No, unfortunately. I'm just going to rip your soul out of your body and replace it with one that hasn't been born yet."

"That's good to know!" Fred said nonsensically. He was about to jump up and run for his life when suddenly everything went dark.

Eritrea had just finished her tale. Velus looked at her thoughtfully. Then he started to laugh.

"What?" Eritrea exclaimed. "What's so funny?!"

"Honestly!" Velus snickered. "Do you expect me to believe such a preposterous tale? Did that witch tell it to you?"

"I see Allarian boys aren't known for their good manners." Eritrea glared. "I'm telling you the truth. I didn't believe it myself at first. But why would a witch be wearing that armor? Or carrying that gold out of the caves?"

"Look, she decieved you!" Velus said. "If Lord Fred was alive he would return to the King to report having slain the Dragon!"

"Are you calling me a fool?!" Eritrea yelled. "You're the fool! I've half a mind to spank you, little boy!"

Velus' eyes darkened. "Look, I don't have time for this nonsense. Not only do I have to slay a witch, I've now discovered that there is another Dragon in the caves. I have a lot of work to do. Now are you with me, or are you against me?"

Eritrea sighed. "Allright, let's team up for now. It's really your own business if you're going to kill your own Lord Fred. I'm just telling you what I know."

"Right." Velus said. Suddenly he wasn't so sure. Perhaps there was more going on than he was aware of...

Slowly she woke up and became aware of her own existence. The girl sat up, gasping and blinking her eyes. She was naked, sitting on a cold stone table in the middle of a massive room filled with countless strange objects. Around the table a red pentagram was drawn on the floor, and a basin filled with blood was at the girl's feet. A burning black candle stood in the basin. The girl had no idea what all of this could mean, but she was sure of one thing - once that candle burned down something bad would happen to her. Had she woken up earlier than whoever was doing this had intended? How did she even understand anything about this? The girl rubbed her forehead and climbed off the table, carefully stepping over the lines of the pentagram. There was nobody else in the room.

"This is all really strange." the girl said, and the sound of her voice almost made her jump, but it was comforting at the same time. She went on "I have no idea who or what I am, where I am, or how I even know how to speak. I understand those things on the bottom of my body are for walking, but what are these two things on the upper part for? They're bouncy..."

Suddenly she realized how foolish it was to stand here playing with those weird bouncy things on her body. Danger was close - she could sense it, smell it. She had no idea what form danger could take, but she was vaguely cognizant of the general concept of danger. She let go of the soft bouncy things and hurriedly made her way around the objects in the room to look for an exit. An opening in the cavewall led into darkness. There was obviously danger there too, but staying in one place was even more dangerous. The girl took one of the torches down from the wall and made her way down the passage.

Eventually she came across...

  1. A red-haired, naked woman chained to a wall.
  2. Velus and Eritrea.
  3. The Dragon's hoard, being picked at by the Heresy Examiner's men.
  4. Random cave trolls.
  5. Captain Gordon, Defender of Earth!
  6. The Dragoness.
  7. A red-haired, naked woman chained to a wall. . . and a bunch of weirdos!!
