"Right!" Fred said. "Here, take my hand so we don't get separated." Astra placed her hand in Fred's with a smile surprisingly shy for so bold a warrior. "Ready when you are," she said. A sound like stones rumbling echoed down the hallway. "I am definitely ready," Fred said wryly. "Let's go." With a breath, the two stepped through the portal... ... and found themselves on a path in a shaded glen somewhere. They glanced back at the portal behind them. It shimmered for a moment, seemingly hanging in midair, then disappeared. Fred couldn't be sure, but he thought he saw the door explode outward just before the portal vanished. "Well, we made it," Astra said. "I just wish I knew where it is we've made it to." "Far away from that lunatic Vincent, I hope," Fred said grimly. "I still don't understand, though - if he can transform anyone he likes into one of those beasts, why should he want us in particular?" "That's something we can figure out as we go," Fred asserted. "In the meantime, we can't just stay here - we have to figure out where we are." "Well, there's a sign to this path, but it's less than helpful," Fred said. The sign had two arrows on it. One pointed left, and had a large blue square on it with a yellow triangle embedded in it. The right-hand arrow showed a seven-pointed star, surrounded by a series of green dots.
