The Punny Plaque

"Plaque?" Astra asked. "What kind of plaque?"

"I have been finding thee mysterious plaques all along my journey through these caves., I do not know who placed them here, or why, but they've been irritatingly vague."

"Are they helpful?"

"Usually," Shen Tso sighed. "But they are also quite exasperating at times. Well, let us see what message this one conveys." So she read it - then she read it again, just to make sure.

"Well?"

"It is a riddle - a pun!"

"What?!"

"Yes. It reads Fore-warned is fore-armed, and Four Armed is Four Warned."

"I'd say it sounded silly - except that as we seem to be fused together, at the moment, we do have four arms."

"Yes," Shen Tso agreed. "Which leads me to believe that either we are being watched, or a great seer knew of this advance and is using these plaques to guide us in some way."

"Whichever it is," Astra said, "I suggest we be ready for something bad - possibly four bad somethings."

"Indeed," Astra agreed. They continued on for a short ways until reaching a door with a numeral "4" inscribed in a circle on it. Next to the door was a lever. With a shrug (or what would have been one had she still had shoulders), Astra reached out and pulled the lever.

The door slid back to reveal:

1. A man who limbs and torso stretched and twisted like rubber.
2. A man who appeared to be made of fire.
3. A man whose body was made up of craggy orange rocks.
4. A woman who seemed to be fading in and out of sight.
