Apparently Fred had not been nearly so firmly under Vincent's control as
the Doctor had believed. Blood spurted from multiple deep wounds in the
scientist-mage's chest. He attempted ineffectually to stem the flow with
his hands for a few seconds, an almost comical look of surprise on his
face, and then he fell to the floor. Astra was sure that the severity of
his wounds must have proved fatal.
She was unsure whether to thank Fred or to curse him, for with Vincent's death any chance of her getting her arms back seemed to have vanished. But before she could do either of those things:
