"To be honest," Louise said apologetically, "We've never really done much
sewing. At least not that we can remember." "'That you can remember'?" Haljon asked, puzzled. Sigourney shook her head. "It's a long story. But what we're trying to say is that we'll do our best to help out. Just don't be too surprised if the results are less than perfect." Haljon waved his hand at the burnt and tattered sails. "Dearies, these sails look like slices'a Ganan Cheese. Believe me, y'can't do worse to 'em than that!" The sisters sewed for four days, patching up burn holes in the Nyriad's sails. It was slow going, but while they were less than master seamstresses, the three of them proved fairly adequate with the clumsy needles and thick twine. Finally, all sails were pronounced seaworthy again (if somewhat strange looking, since they were all now a hodge-podge of colors and designs). However, in the intervening time, the Nyriad had drifted along with the current, despite the best efforts of Haljon to keep the it on course. The day after the sails were hoisted back up, Haljon informed his crew and passengers:
