so I know I can trust you to look out for my best interests." "Absolutely," Belboz said with a smile. "Now then, the tome." With a flick of his wrist and a muttered incantation that released several sorcerous safeguards, a sealed glass case at the far end of the cavern sprang open, revealing a large book, bound in blood-red leather, that promptly floated forward into Belboz's outstretched hands. "I must confess," Hannah said, "I have always wondered what was in this. Ever since I can remember, you've had this book under the strongest of wards. It must be very special, very powerful or very dangerous. Or all three at once." "Ah, you remember that lesson," Belboz said. "And as usual, you're quite right, my dear. The Red Tome is special and powerful and dangerous, depending on who wields it. Come, float with me." Belboz and Hannah sat cross-legged on the floor. After adjusting their robes about them, the closed their eyes and chanted what sounded like a small, tuneless song. Slowly, the two necromancers floated upwards, up and up until they reached the ceiling of the cavern, the Red Tome suspended between them.
