Toby the Zombie
The Never Ending Quest - Episode 3895

Catherina approaches with a small medallion in her hand. "This
must be placed
around the body's neck," she says and hands it to you. It troubles you
that you are dealing
with witchcraft, but you are prepared to take any action in order to defeat
the Dragon.
You pull the medallion's chain around Toby's head and step out of the
grave. Catherina
smiles and tells you that the sorcerer instructed them to recite a few
words. You nod and
the three women then begin to chant. It is eerie and your skin suddenly
begins to crawl.
You look down at Toby and notice that his body seems to be changing; his
skin has
tightened around his bones, his features becoming sharp and hard and there
is a gray pallor
that has replaced the natural tint of death. You look back at the three
women and are
startled to see them swaying unnaturally, their faces lit up in a kind of
ecstasy. You
suddenly wonder if you made a mistake; no longer do the women seem so
ordinary or
comforting. In fact, they look exactly like a trio of witches.
The sound of their voices rises and you are unprepared for the hand that strikes out to clutch at your heel. You stumble and fall and find yourself face to face with the animated corpse of Sir Toby the knight. He's sitting up in his wooden coffin, one hand stretched out of the pit. He peers at you with dead eyes and you feel your stomach begin to heave. You roll away from the monstrosity and Catherina rushes to your side. She bends down to you and smiles, "It is a zombie, the walking dead. But it will not harm you, for it is under our control." You sit up and stare at the dead thing. You definitely feel that you have made a mistake. "Catherina, there must--" you begin as you turn back to her, but silence fills your mouth as you gaze on the old woman staring at you, her wicked eyes shining and a dagger held in her bony hand. "Why stop at only one zombie?" she asks and strikes. You struggle with the woman and finally fling her away. A second medallion, a medallion meant for you, skitters across the cave floor. You rise to your feet and pull out your sword, ready to smite the witch. But before you can take a step you hear a swoosh from behind you and suddenly you seem to be flying. When you finally stop you are surprised to find yourself gazing at a very strange scene. In the center of the cave stands your body and behind it is the zombie, a bloody sword in his hand. And your body doesn't have a head. 'Well this sucks...' you think as your headless body collapses to the ground and your bodiless head tips over into a mound of dirt. Your vision goes from brown to grey and finally to black. And you are dead.
