Digging Up Sir Toby

Catherina tightens her shawl about her shoulders and seems to shiver. "We are desperate for our freedom," she says, her head bowed. "Mother Abigail has spoken for our cause and has enlisted the aid of a sorcerer. We wish it were otherwise, but what other choice do we have?" You square your shoulders and sheath your sword dramatically. "You have me," you answer. "But you are only one man," Desdemona answers back. "You do not know the wiles of the terrible beast we suffer under," Embeth adds. Catherina looks up at you with pleading eyes, "We do not know who it is that lies within that grave but if he was a knight like yourself, then let him continue the battle. In death he may achieve what he did not in life."

The women's fear of the Dragon and the hope that they have placed in their macabre plan moves your heart. You look at the grave and the shovel in your hand. You turn back to the women and smile, "Sir Toby was a brave and generous man. He dedicated his life to helping others. I think he would be pleased if he could strike one more blow for justice, even though he be dead." The three women are overjoyed that you understand their fearful plight and the extreme measures it has forced them to take. You decide to help them and you quickly get down to the work of uncovering Toby's grave. Soon the coffin is laid bare. With a reverent touch, you open the lid and the cold, dead body of Sir Toby is revealed.

1. 'But what will they do to him?' you wonder.
