The Men are Safe - For Now

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 38948

"No, we don't intend to do that," Chapel said. "Although a few may have lost their lives through resisting when we took over the ship."

"Christine!" McCoy moaned. "My God!"

"Oh, don't worry, Doctor," she laughed. "None of your little friends were hurt too much. In fact, you only lost three males - all of them in those stupid red shirts that make such nice targets. Lieutenant Herber and Ensigns Fernandez and Landers, I believe."

"Chris!" Fred cried in disbelief, "I cn't believe you're talking like that - you're a nurse, a medical person!"

"Oh, don't worry," Chapel said dismissively, "It's not like they were anyone important - just three more men. You'd realize that yourself if your brain wasn't so messed up right now. Besides, we still have more than enough of thm aboard for our plans."

"Plans? What plans?"

"Why, we're going to - hmmm," Chapel paused. "Perhaps it's best I not tell you - no offense, poor dear, but you're not thinking right at the moment, and we can't have you blabbing anything to the men. And that goes for you too," she added, glaring in what Fred assumed was McCoy's direction. "In any case, though, until and unless you come around, you'll have to be kept confined and guarded."

"Confined?" Fred asked nervously. "Confined where?"

  1. "Back in your quarters. You'll be safe and comfortable, but not allowed to leave."
  2. "I think it's best if you stay here in Sickbay. Maybe we can find out what's wrong with you that way."
  3. "In the brig, of course. We can't take any chances, after all."
  4. "We're going to put you in a shuttlecraft and depressurize the shuttlebay - that should keep you quite secure."
  5. Before Chapel could answer, a hand touched her shoulder - and she slumped to the deck unconscious.
