Belboz naturally took the opportunity to look through the possessions of
all of his "guests". The steam was thick enough to ensure that they could
not see what he was doing, and should anyone leave the pool he was sure to
hear them before they came too close.
He hadn't expected to find anything of interest in Checkers' pouch, and was taken aback to find the medallion. How had the Glider come by that? He tried to remember where he had left it. On the top shelf in his workshop, wasn't it? That should surely have been safely above Checkers' eyeline. Perhaps he had been unwise to leave Checkers and Astra on their own with the unconscious Fred. Had he been over-confident? Checkers had obviously been sufficiently intrigued by the item to keep it, but surely she could not know its true significance? She would have recognised it as a Glider artifact, of course, and it was possible that she might know that "tragami" meant "dragon". Would she be aware that the dragon of the Southern Caves was called Minestus and was thus the dragon referred to by the medallion? Why had she not shown the item to him and asked him to explain how he had come by it? It could just be that she did not want to have been seen to have been prying amongst his possessions, but it seemed more likely that she had some suspicion of him. He then turned to examining Astra's mysterious black broadcloth skirt and blouse. They were of good quality and seemed brand new, but that was all that he could learn about them.
