At the journey's end, they reached Kandor. It seemed a fairly large city, with white spires
towering in the distance. A large granite wall loomed over them. Angela seemed awed.
This was probably the first city she'd ever seen in her life. Even Charmina couldn't help but
be a bit awed herself. This was not a city like Varga, small and squat, which tried to hide
from prying eyes. This was a city whose pride rose up to heaven. Still, she knew cities too
well to trust this one. Astra, doubtless, had seen many like it.
Several bored-looking young guards with pikes in their hands stood on the edge of the iron porticullis. Looking through the gate, Charmina saw that no one seemed to be using horses, but were rather travleing on a kind of small enclosed boat/carriage which seemed to float a few inches above the ground.
