The three women had anticipated this, and had discussed how they should
answer. Their names presented no problem, but their homelands were another
matter. Angela could not remember where she came from originally, and
neither an Aqualaria nor a Varga seemed likely to exist in this world.
However, since none of them knew the names of any countries here, they had
agreed that it would best for Astra and Charmina to tell the truth, but to
add that their countries were very far distant as the reason for the
guards not having heard of them. Angela would claim to be from Aqualaria
as well.
So: "I am Astra from Aqualaria, a country very far distant." "I am called Angela, and am also from Aqualaria. Our friend does not speak your tongue. She is Charmina, from a small land called Varga, which is also many hundreds of miles from here."
