The place-name meant nothing to any of them, but there seemed to be no
sensible alternative to heading for the town. "We should get there in four
hours," Astra said.
"Make that five hours," Angela replied. "Our legs aren't as long as yours. I can't keep up that fast a pace, and I don't suppose that Charmina can either." "Do either of you have any money?" Astra asked. "We are going to be hungry by the time we get there, and will also need beds for the night." "I don't," Angela said. She translated Astra's question for Charmina's benefit. Charmina reached into her cleavage and pulled out a small pouch on a string. She displayed its contents to them: a few coins. Unfortunately none of them were gold, which tended to be accepted everywhere. One was silver, which ought to be worth something. The other four were made of copper, and would most likely be valueless outside Varga. They would probably have enough to buy a meal when they arrived, but after that they might have to look for work.
