There was something ominous about the way Exotica spoke those words, "Most
of the time." "What do you mean?" Amy asked. "Where do we go during those other times?" "Good question." Exotica sighed. "About once every few months one of us is picked to leave this cavern. Where that one goes, we have no idea, but one thing is certain - we never see her again." "Scary." Amy couldn't help but shudder. "Isn't there any way to escape from this nightmare?" "Believe me, we've tried." Exotica said. "But there are no exits from this cavern except the chute they drop our meals through, and it's way too high for us to get up through, even if we all stood on each other's shoulders. The rock is too hard for us to tunnel through. The only way any of us arrive or leave is by being teleported by the Dragon. And..." Suddenly a loud scream of anger reverbrated through the cavern. A monstrously overweight human female strode up to Exotica and Amy. She wielded a massive stone stirring spoon in one hand. "Where is she?!" the woman screamed again. "Where is that dirty ungrateful skank who's too good to try my cooking?!" "We're in trouble." Exotica whispered. "That's Vashkoda - our best cook, but a bit touched in the head, as you can see." "What do you want?" Amy asked, standing up to face the woman. "Are you she?!" Vashkoda demanded. "Are you the nasty tramp who's better than the rest of us?!" Amy remained silent. She was more than a little scared of the huge female. "Vashkoda, stand off!" Astra commanded. Her dominating voice carried all the way from the other side of the cavern. "Nay!" Vashkoda yelled. "I'll grind this one into the rock!" She seemed to be on the verge of hitting Amy with the spoon when Rami jumped between them. "It was me!" Rami exclaimed. "You dirty, nasty creature! How can you eat other sentients?!" In response, Vashkoda swung out with the spoon, throwing Rami across the cave to land unconscious some distance away. Something came over Amy - something heavy and ancient, that made her blood boil and red colour flood her field of vision. She suddenly found herself on top of Vashkoda, Amy's fists finding their way again and again into the massive woman's face. Roaring, Vashkoda grabbed Amy by the waist and jumped up, flipping Amy upside down to smash her head-first into the rock. Dazed, Amy nonetheless somehow twisted around to kick Vashkoda so hard in the back of the knee the woman crashed into a corpulent pile on the cavefloor. Before Amy could get up Vashkoda's hands sank into her hair and pulled viciously. She was terrifyingly fast for such a large being. Amy screamed and repeatedly elbowed Vashkoda in the stomach. It was like hitting a tub of lard, but Vashkoda grunted in pain and her grip slackened.
