As Astra feared, she was now completely bald. Holding back the tears had
accelerated the process. Thankfully, though, it seemed like this was the
only thing that was going to happen to her, at least for the moment. She
tried again to see if she could pull off the ring, but again to no avail.
It increasingly looked like the only way the ring could be removed is by
her death, and course that was something she didn't want to happen for a
very long time, regardless of their current situation. They continued to walk until the very first rays of the sun made their presence known through the foliage above. Tiredness was beginning to catch up with them, as well as an encroaching hunger. It was then they realised that they had left their supply of fruit and nuts behind, and neither of them felt they had the energy to go back. They collapsed to the floor and lay with their backs against a tree. They both had it in their minds that they were just going to rest awhile, but both eventually fell into a deep sleep. Fred would sleep peacefully, but Astra started having nightmares again,
