"I doubt it. Whatever it is, it can't have been around here for very long. Otherwise all the statues would have been toppled before we found them. Also I don't see how it would explain the lack of any wildlife."

Further along the shore, they discovered a group of three statues, all of which had been overturned. In the pit left where one of the statues had been embedded in the earth, they spotted a partially exposed skeleton. "These statues must be burial markers," Fred realised.

The skeleton's legs and pelvis were still covered by the sandy soil, but its ribcage, arms and skull were visible.

1. "Let us scrape some soil over it to cover it again," Astra said. "The dead should be left to rest in peace."
2. Astra noticed that there was a ring on one bony finger.
3. As they looked at the skeleton, they heard a hissing noise approaching. Then they were flung into the air. The power that had toppled the statues had found them.
