Neither Fred nor Checkers had looked too closely at the ceiling at first.
Then something made Checkers look up, and what she saw made her call out
to Fred: "Look, Fred! The dragon in the ceiling is wearing a golden rope,
with what looks like my spearhead attached! I'm sure it wasn't like that
before."
In fact Fred had spotted the change at the same moment as Checkers, and had been about to call out to her with his discovery. Instead he replied: "No, I don't think that it was like that before. What an amazing thing! I suppose that must mean that the dragon portrayed is supposed to be Astra, then. That hadn't occurred to me. Whilst it certainly looks like her, she's the only dragon that I've ever seen in the flesh, and I'd just assumed that all dragons look like that." After studying the mosiac, Checkers returned her attention to the globe that she had been examining before some sixth sense had drawn her gaze upwards. The globe had a small section obscured by a similar strange substance to that which covered the statue of Astra. [22833, 22929] She realised that if she looked closely, the place names were still just visible. Was that...? Surely it couldn't be, but... "Oh my!" she exclaimed. "Fred, I recognise all these names, though some have changed a little over the years. That's my country under the glass! What can it mean?" Fred was not altogether surprised by Checkers' reaction, having already suspected that it could be her homeland under the strange substance. [32222] What else could Fred reply but: "I've no idea what it can mean, Checkers." After a few seconds of silence, he went on; "Are you ready to go on and explore further now, or is there more in this ampitheatre that you want to examine?"
