The Fire Ant

"It's not a big problem, I assure you," Astra replied, she hoped reassuringly. "I've just been bitten by a fire ant."

"Fire ant?" Fred asked. There was no such creatures in Allaria, and so he hadn't heard of it.

Before Astra could reply, she noticed something and pointed towards it. It was a fairly large dome shaped mound. Fred turned to look. "What's that? Is that their nest?"

Astra nodded. Feeling a tickling sensation, they both had to brush a number of them off, fortunately neither was bitten.

"We'd better move away." They walked over to one of the other head statues. It was here Astra explained. "In a few hours a blister will appear where I was stung. It will be extremely painful, but I can cope with it. I should put something cold on it to relieve the pain and swelling then wash it gently with soap and water." She smiled ruefully. "Of course I can do none of that, here. The best I can do is make sure the blister doesn't burst." Fred still looked concerned. Astra patted his arm. "I'll be alright," she smiled.

1. They continued their exploration. Making sure to keep clear of any fire ant nests, of course.
