"A relic of a bygone age," he sighed wearily, placing the miniature out
of his sight. "I really shouldn't leave it lying around like that. I have
become a bit careless in my old age." He went over to the cauldron and
began stirring it's bubbling contents with a large wooden ladel. "It has
been a very long time since I've had the pleasure of cooking for another
sane soul," he explained. "I think you'll find the simple cousine of the
Allarian countryside nourishes not only the body but also the soul."
Astra breathed in the pleasant aroma that hung in the air. "It smells wonderful." "Water," the old hermit stated abruptly. "I can see you've done a fine job with the rushes, but now I, or my stew that is, needs more water...before it gets too late. Good stranger, there is a bucket on the porch. Carry it up the hill and to the well. Oh, and take the cudgel with you, there is a pesky goblin who has taken a fancy to guarding the well as his own of late, especially around dusk...which is fastly approaching. It is easily frightened, but it's gaze is hypnotizing. Never, under any circumstances, look it in the eyes."Astra cleared her throat uneasily. "Well...alright..." "Oh," the hermit added casually. "Ignore the giant eye that begins to become visable as the sun wanes. It is a common feature of the night-sky in this part of Allaria now. Just don't look at it. Ever. Actually, steer clear of any eyes altogether...come to think of it. Just about any creature that roams these hills will hypnotize you, given half a chance. I'm speaking from experience. Okay, well, off you go now!"
