So Karen and Mark headed east. There was no change in the landscape,
simply more tall trees and rocks. Karen swatted at a fly-type thing that
started to buzz around. No matter how hard she tried, it didn't go away. A
few minutes later another one appeared, but this one annoyed Mark instead.
Soon the two of them were ineffectively swatting at the annoying bugs. As they were so engrossed in this, they failed to see the hole in front of them. Mark falls in first, closely followed by Karen. Screaming all the way, they continued falling for what seemed like an eternity. They eventually landed on...well they didn't exactly know what they had landed on except that it smelled. A lot. Looking around they find that they've lost the books they were carrying. Considering the circumstances, they considered that a minor loss. They appeared to be in some sort of natural cave. There were three openings, one to the north, one to the east, and the other to the south.
