Descent of Andrea

As the basket took her down, she found herself to be not in a kitchen at all but in a far stranger place. It seemed to be a great hall made entirely out of shining white crystal, althought the light was not so bright that Andrea could not see. Statues made of polished obsidian watched like stern teachers. At the end of the hall was a mighty statue of a golden dragon, which looked like a much larger version of Andrea's lighter, locked in combat with a black dragon. Andrea remembered now that the golden dragon was a symbol of Kelas, god of war and the storm, and protector of warriors. While the black dragon was the symbol of his brother Zentar, god of magic and death. Some believed that Kelas was a force of good and Zentar of evil, while others said that they were each both good and evil--after all, war and warriors could do great evil as well as good, while magic could do great good as well as evil. And while death could be frightening and evil thing, it could also be the gateway to a new life.
