Inn on fire

Since they could come up with nothing else to do, and it was conceded
that if Nixy was not already dead she soon would be in the hands of those
trolls, they proceeded to set fire on the inn. The flames were slow a first but the wooden walls were dry and once the fire started spreading it didn’t take long before the whole side of the building was ablaze. The party, having retreated well away from the heat and smoke, could hear the trolls’ shouts from inside. They had a view of the inns main and rear door from where they had hidden behind some rocks and anxiously looked for any figure running out from the house. The house was now fully on fire and it was starting to get clear that the trolls weren’t going to come out. For awhile they hoped that Nixy might be able to flee during the confusion but when the house started to collapse they gave up even that hope. It was not until late that evening that the fire had died down enough for the party to start searching the smouldering remains. They dreaded what they might find.
