Astra's Struggle

As she was dragged toward those eyes, and presumably, a most gruesome fate, Astra fought back panic and tried to review her options. There was no way to use her favorite attack, at least because she didn't know where this monster's "sensitive place" could be. Then Astra remembered the magic chains that were still clamped around her bloodied wrists despite the disintegration of the wall. They could be used as weapons! As she got closer and closer to the beast, she quickly wrapped a chain around her right hand and punched the monster as hard as she could between the eyes. It gave a burbling shriek, and in the next second a tentacle wrapped around Astra's other ankle. Before more tentacles could immobilize her completely, Astra quickly pulled the other chain around the monster's head and contracted it as hard as she could. The beast's jagged teeth were now inches away from her face, but as long as Astra kept squeezing the monster could do little - except wrap the rest of it's tentacles around her neck and stomach. Astra gasped for air. It seemed there was little chance she could snap the thing's neck before the tentacles squeezed the life out of her. And then the monster plunged deeper into the water, taking Astra with it...

"OH NO!" Korval gasped, running to the edge of the water. "We've got to help her!"

"I thought you couldn't stand her." Velus said.

"You don't understand!" Korval said, fear in his eyes. "Her mother... you don't know the terror of that woman! The things she will do to me if I come back without Astra! I never really meant to leave her in the chains, you know... and now..."

"Right, we have to help her!" Fred said, trying to catch a glimpse of what was happening underwater. "But... how?"

1. The knights come up with a plan to save Astra, a plan which probably involves Velus in some way.
2. The knights fail to come up with anything, and semi-regretfully give Astra up for dead.
3. When Astra finds she can breathe again, she is lying a shore somewhere else in the Caves, in complete darkness and with a dead monster beside her.
