Eight Months Later

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 25239

Eight months passed by. The rain and the snow fell on the statues, pigeons perched on them and left their droppings, and dogs cocked their legs against them. The first traces of moss began to appear in some of their crevices.

Eight months to the day after the first appearance of the statues, two gossiping housewives were walking by on their way to the market that was held every week in Jueseafrute. The sight of the statues revived an argument that they had had almost every time they came this way.

"Well, I say she's wearing a dress," Mistress Jolly said.

"And I still say that it's a slip," Mistress Quickly retorted.

At that precise moment:

  1. The two women were startled by a grating voice saying: "It's a chemise, dammit!"
  2. Cracks suddenly appeared in both statues.
  3. Absolutely nothing out of the ordinary happened. "I had the strangest feeling that something significant was about to happen," Mistress Jolly observed, "but it didn't."
