In the Independent Duchy of Kull, just north and to the right of Cogan

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 25238

On the main road leading into the town of Jueseafrute there appeared the light and mist of magic. The men and women on that road, the merchants and circus freaks, even the little street urchins knew enough to back off for at least ten paces. The local guards came over, also keeping the recognized ten paces away, they muscled their way to the front of the gawkers circle and attempted to keep order. After some two minutes there was a sucking noise as the very space where floated that mist was translocated and in its place were two statues.

After a few oooohs and awes most of the gakwers returned to their normal lives... it's not like this didn't happen often, it actually did. The guards inspected the two statues: that of a man wearing patches of Allarian armor and covered in swathes of bandages and wrappings, one hand holding a sword that was covered in some kind of slime, and a look of outraged anger on his face; the other statue was a woman wearing a dress but barefoot, balling her hands into fists, and with a look of indignation and alarm on her face, her most outstanding feature being her well-rounded bosom and her athletic physique. The statue of the man stood on the left of the road while the woman stood to the right. They were two bookends along the road leading into the city, in fact, they stood only fifteen feet from the lemonade stand that marked the outermost jurisdiction of the town.

The guards found a note on the male statue, it read: Hope you like these, very fine quality - don't break them, they have a warranty of eight months. Give my regards to Mayorette Sonja. Toodles, -- Pronklezilch

"Hmmph!" grunted one of the guards. "I know this guy, he cured the wart on my sisters left toe... but the s.o.b. didn't tell us that the cure would cause flower-shaped birthmarks to sprout on her backside!"

"I never met him," said the other guard. "But I have heard the stories... what would a warlock from Haunt be doing sending two strange statues to us here in the Independent Duchy of Kull?"

"He's an eccentric" answered the first guard. "He feels all the independent duchies and principalities and theocracies should band together, you know, to hold off any pressure from those arrogant Allarians and those over-reaching Hespan."

"Oh," said the guard, but inside he still didn't understand how geopolitical issues would lead some wizard to deposit two odd statues on the road to Juseafrute.

  1. What shall become of our two solid heroes? Will the remain statues forever? What's a warranty of 8 months mean? And will anyone clean off the eventual build-up of pidgeon guano?
