"Very odd," Fred agreed, watching as the glyphs on his skin pulsed and
glowed in time with the crystaline sphere. "It doesn't seem, to hurt,
though. What about you?" "Not me either," Astra agreed. "But it does tingle a bit." "Yes. Still, this is all a bit too strange for my taste. Do you see anything else down here besides this thing?" The two of them looked around the chamber for a few minutes, but to no avail - there were no markings on the wall, no other passageway into or out of the room, no statues or scrolls, just the light from the strange pulsing ball, and the even odder light of their own brightening and dimming body markings. "I don't understand it," Fred said in frustration. "There's nothing here to indicate a purpose or utility to this thing. It's just plain - " "Odd?" Astra finished for him. "This whole situation is exceedingly odd, Lord Fred. Maybe we should go back to the altar and - and..." She stopped, and cocked her head in puzzlement. "Astra? What's wrong?" "I don't know, but I hear something - a thrumming sound, like a muffled cornet, badly in need of tuning. But where is it coming from?" "I don't hear a thi- wait! Yes, I, I hear it as well. I've never heard anything quite like it before." "Oh, look," Astra exclaimed. "The thrumming is timed with the way the ball and glyphs pulse!" "Strange," Fred mumurred. "It just borders on the cacauphonous, but at the same time it sounds quite - pleasant. Soothing, almost." Astra and Fred stood there for a moment listening to the noise. Then...
