Fred crept up to the girl's backpack. After some initial difficulty with
the straps, he got it open and started carefully sorting through the items
within. There were some extra throwing knives, a pouch of herbs, some
yellow and green potions of unknown purpose, and several changes of
undershifts, as well as a large round object that was wrapped in a satiny
fabric. Driven by curiousity, Fred unwrapped it and held it up into the
dim light of the torch. He was stupefied. There was no doubt as to what he held - a warm, green- speckled Dragon's egg! So there was another, female Dragon in these caves - that much was clear. Fred couldn't believe this fact had gone unknown up till now. Less clear - just what was Eritrea doing with such an esoteric item? Dragon's eggs were highly prized among wizards and gourmands. There were also those people who tried to raise baby dragons as servants - it was a dangerous hobby, and one rarely undertaken for good purposes.
