Fred crept over the rocks and up to the fox. It lay sprawled over the dirt-covered boulder, not really moving now. Its left hind leg was streched out, the calf caught in the cruel, blunt trap. "Be careful, Fred!" Alicia called. "Something isn't right. Something isn't right at all." Fred pulled open the new model trap. The fox looked at him, back at the trap, then vanished off the rock. Fred prepared to let the lever go when two more bars rose up out of the ground and caught his right wrist. Alicia swore. "Dammit, it was a trap for us!" Fred heard rustling in the woods. Humans. With crossbows. He could smell them. "Run, Alicia!" he hissed.
