It is hard to underestimate the impact that the Attari invasion had on the various peoples of Earth. At this time, most people either believed that the other worlds in Earth's solar system were either completely uninhabited or populated by divine beings, and most people simply could not conceive of the idea that there were worlds outside of our solar system. Most religions at the time believed that Earth was the center of the universe. They would soon learn how wrong they were.
The turning point was in the summer of 1499. Up until this point, both factions of the Attari still saw Earth as having nothing to offer them. It was not until 1499 that a Zerakni scouting party, visiting Earth on a beaureaucratic formality, realized that the magic practiced by Humans interfered with Attari technology. They realized that the knowledge contained on Earth may provide the trump card by which they might finally defeat their longtime enemies. Thus, the Attari began to send spies to infiltrate the various Earth governments. The Zerakni were a fiercely rationalistic people; this was their greatest strength and their greatest weakness. They thus decided that the best course would be to impersonate dieties in hopes that the humans would blindly obey them. The Zerakni would initiate their invasion by creating catastrophes such as earthquakes and hurricanes to make people believe that the end of the world was at hand. This component of the invasion began at January 3, 1501.
