Don't You Just Hate Trashy Paperback Bindings!

She had completed page 128, the left-hand of the two pages at the point where she had opened the book, and now she eagerly went on to the right- hand page, hoping to read about what great things she would achieve. But it began: So in 1610, Captain Walter Smith... Huh? What had happened to the account of the war and her own part in it?

Looking at the page number, she was that this was page 193. A sixty- four page chunk of the book was missing!

1. She searched the oaken cabinet in the hope of finding the missing part of the book.
2. But she didn't have time to worry about that. The floor beneath her feet began to tremble. Earthquake! At least that added to the book's credibility.
