"I joined the Foreign Legion to forget, sir," Astra replied. (Fred's uniform told her that he must be the new commanding officer.)

"To forget what?"

Astra frowned in thought for a moment, then said: "I've forgotten. And, with respect, who are you, sir? Should I know you?" Apparently when Astra forgot, she was thorough about it.

"I'm Fred from Allaria - formerly Lord Fred, heir to the Duchy of Suffex, but I've renounced that. We had a great adventure together. Surely you must remember it?"

"No, I can't say that I do."

1. Fred promotes Astra to be his second in command. She was wasted as a gate guard.
2. Miffed by Astra's failure to remember him, Fred merely says: "Carry on, Corporal." (Astra has a corporal's stripe on her sleeve.) Then he walks into the base.
