Of course, trying not to think about something only garuntees that it will be foremost in your mind.
Fred struggled with this concept for several minutes before he went utterly mad.
He came to a year later, a homeless stinking bum in Bigapple, one of the biggest cities in the terriroties of the Three Kingdoms. (They were a loose band of allies that bordered Fred's homeland).
Fortunately Bigapple bordered several rivers. Fred got himself and his clothes cleaned up and went off to apply in the Three Kingdoms Foreign Legion. They tended to take anyone but once they saw that Fred could immobilize anyone in the recruiting office (apparently Insane Fred exercised) they promoted him to squadron commander and the office boss drove him to the local base inside of an hour. (Despite his skills, there was still paperwork to be filled out).
At the entrance to the gates...

  1. Fred had to fill out more paperwork.
  2. he saw a monkey eating another monkey.
  3. he saw Astra! She was a gate gaurd! Hoo boy.
  4. he saw a demonic box and went insane again.
  5. he realized he had to pee.
