The gigantic figure, a transcendent look on her face, rose out of the pit
and opened the palm of her hand. Mist flowed into it and congealed into
the shape of a scroll, which seemed very ancient in spite of the fact that
it had just been formed. Without a word, she placed the scroll at the feet
of Fred and dissolved into a clout of mist.
This was good, thought Fred. A mysterious apparition delivering a message was definitely worth bonus points. He picked up the scroll and started to read it, but soon realized that it was in Vjorcan. And Fred had no idea how to read Vjorcan. Why would this figure give Fred a message in a language he didn't understand? Fred looked up toward the woman. "Do you think you can help read this scroll, Lady..." "Irena. So Allarian nobles don't teach their children to read anymore? Somehow, I'm not surprised." "No, it isn't that. This scroll is written in Vjorcan, a language I do not know. Are you able to read Vjorcan?" "Certainly. I happen to be from Vjorca. Now hand me the scroll." Fred did so, and the woman looked at it and frowned. "This isn't written in Vjorcan, this is written in Geldan. And no, I don't know how to read Geldan." Fred grimaced. The Questers Guild classes had certainly not prepared him for anything like this. What should he do?
