The Seeker is confident enough of Prince Aaron's sense of honour to
believe that, even if perhaps he won't be sympathetic to the New Amazons
in this reality, he won't take advantage of being told a confidence. "In
a few days we're off to join the New Amazons," he says. Aaron looks
surprised, and Karen looks first amazed and then angry at what appears
to be the blurting out of their secret on a whim. "You idiot!" she says
to The Seeker, temporarily forgetting her deference to the prince. Aaron
holds out a hand to stop her. "Wait a minute," he says.
Aaron turns to The Seeker. He looks very stern. "Now, girl," he says. "Are you trying to trap me?" The Seeker smiles inwardly. He has scored a hit. Aaron must, as in the other reality, be a secret supporter of the New Amazons and think that Alyssa could be trying to trap him into a damaging admission. Then Aaron answers his own question: "No, I must be getting paranoid. There was no way that anyone could know beforehand that I would come this way and meet you. Now...
