Aaron's Story

"So why don't you want to be recognized?" Karen asks.

"Uh... my father also thinks it's best if I learn about the kingdom from the perspective of a peasant. If I travel openly as Prince Aaron, the people will treat me as a prince, and I won't learn what the people are really like."

Aaron is lying. Though it's not entirely impossible that Aaron would be "touring" Zendara under an assumed identity of some sort, The Seeker doubts that the King would let Aaron risk it alone. Besides, Aaron is hesitating while he speaks, indicating that he may be making up the story as he goes. He decides to try to break through Aaron's resistance. "So you're traveling alone and anonymously?" The Seeker says. "Isn't that dangerous?"

Aaron hesitates again, then says, "Well, maybe, yes, but... my father also wants me to learn to be more self-reliant."

"So why were you being chased just now?" The Seeker asks.

"I'm afraid I upset some people in a tavern nearby," Aaron says.

"What did you do to merit _that_?" The Seeker says.

Aaron blushes. "I'd rather not say." He quickly changes the subject. "So, you know who I am, but I don't know who you are."

The Seeker expects Karen to respond, but instead she simply watches Aaron, half-dazed. She's apparently just realized who they're speaking to.

"I'm Alyssa," The Seeker says, "and this is my sister, Karen."

"Pleased to meet you," Aaron says. He reaches out, takes The Seeker's hand, and kisses it. The Seeker blushes, again reminded of his new form. Aaron does the same to Karen. She blushes as well and giggles a little. "So," Aaron says, "what are you girls doing alone in the woods?"

The Seeker starts to tell Aaron about the village, but then he has an idea. If he tells Aaron that he and Karen are going to join the New Amazons, Aaron might admit that he's really going to the Amazon camp to meet with his sister. On the other hand, it could be risky, especially if Aaron _isn't_ going to the Amazons' camp in this reality. Actually, he's not even sure the princess is allied with the Amazons here.

1. He decides to tell Aaron about his and Karen's plans to join the New Amazons.
