"Run!" shouts The Seeker. In spite of Karen's earlier confidence that
there was nothing to
fear, seeing the mob she is not disposed to argue with him. Both his
current body and
Karen's seem to be fairly fleet
of foot (fortunately Karen's armour is fairly lightweight stuff), and they
rapidly gain
on the other girl, who is handicapped by her long voluminess dress and
petticoats.
She is clearly no New Amazon. As they draw level with her, both the New
Seeker and Karen
realise that they cannot leave her to her fate. Karen may be a softer
person that The Seeker
had envisaged, but she is capable of being brave if driven to it, and of
course The Seeker
is The Hero.
