The Seeker is relieved to finally find something familiar. Though
it isn't much, at least it's something to ground him in all of this
strangeness.
As they walk in the direction of the village The Seeker tries to figure out what's going on. After a few minutes of thinking, he finally comes up with a theory. More than once he has explored the nature of Addventure in the episodes he's written, and one idea he's come up with is that Addventure reality is based on the collective imaginations of the authors. For this reason it's very malleable, and dangerously fragile. When Scott became an author and sent the former authors into their own storylines, it shattered the balance of reality. Now Addventure is unstable. Judging from what has happened in similar storylines in the past, it's probable that things will change again (and, judging from all Addventure storylines, it will probably change for the worst). The Seeker realizes that the only way to return things to "normal" is to return the authors to their proper places. Well, there's nothing he can do now, so he turns his mind back to matters at hand. He looks over at Karen. She's been quiet since they left the battlefield. He assumes she's thikning about Alyssa. He wants to say seomthing to comfort her, but he doesn't know what, so he stays silent. After a while The Seeker sees the outskirts of the village. Then he has second thoughts about going in. In the original storyline, the villagers wouldn't have reacted well to seeing Karen and Mark return. Fortunately, it's still dark, so if he and Karen stick to the shadows they'll probably be safe. "Be careful," The Seeker says. "We don't want to get caught." "Caught?" Karen says. "This is our home! Surely they wouldn't do anything to us. Besides, it's late. Who would be awake now?" The Seeker decides not to try to explain to Karen what's reallly going on. "Just... be careful." With that the two of them go into the village. The Seeker looks around. They walk on the same road that Karen had walked on in the original storyline. He sighs. That seems so distant now. Suddenly, The Seeker hears shouting behind him. He and Karen turn. The angry mob is approaching them now; it looks like they've arrived just in time. To The Seeker's surprise, though, they aren't chasing an old man, but instead a young girl, about Karen's age. He can't make out her features, but from what he can tell she's not Alyssa. He decides it's better to hide and figure out what's going on than to stay where he is and get caught. He looks around for the bush that Karen hid behind. No bush! Of all the bad times for a reality change... The Seeker realizes that he and Karen have nowhere to run, and, though Karen is armed, he is not. If the mob overtakes them, they're in trouble.
