The Seeker sighs. Indeed, it is Aaron's body. He should have
realized it sooner. He feels somewhat guilty for getting it killed.
He also realizes that so far this storyline seems to be fairly different from the other one. Judgning from the changes in the storyline so far, he knows that he can't really rely on the knowledge he's already gathered about the story by writing it. The Seeker stands and turns around. Karen stands behind him, but she's turned away from him. She's covered her face with her hands, and she seems to be whimpering softly. Something doesn't seem right about that. This isn't how he'd envisioned Karen. Though he couldn't be sure, because "your" personality controlled Karen for all that he'd written about her, The Seeker had always seen the original Karen as being a lot more... agressive, almost Alyssa's opposite. This Karen, though, seems to be more like Alyssa than unlike her. The Seeker gently puts his hand on Karen's shoulder. Karen flinches, then looks up at him, tears running down her face. She throws herself into his arms. "Oh, I knew we never should have come here!" Karen says. "I told Alyssa that it was stupid, but she didn't listen! I never was able to stand up to her. She always was the stronger of the two of us." She sobs. So that confirms The Seeker's suspicions. In this reality Karen and Alyssa's personalities seem to be reversed. A pity, because he had kind of wanted to find out what the real Karen was like. The Seeker consoles Karen. Then he realizes that if he's to survive in this new reality he'll have to find out more about it. He tells Karen to go back into the ditch and wait for him. Karen agrees, and goes. Then The Seeker scans over the carnage. He finds Princess Illura's body and reluctantly walks over bodies to where it lies. He searches her body, and finds the note that he'd guessed would be there. He reads it. Instead of Prince Samuel's pledge to guard the pass to Daria, he finds a note from Aaron to Illura: My Dear Illura, I am coming to meet you. I have tried to convince your father not to send an army to the New Amazon fortress, but I've failed; he's decided to attack. He says, though, that if you surrender and return home, he will call off the attack. He's sent me to you to try to convince you to surrender. Please, Illura, reconsider your alliance with the New Amazons. I don't want you to die in battle. I love you. I'm concerned about your fate. So is your father; he really doesn't want to have to do this. If you and the other Amazons will only surreneder, all of your lives will be spared. I am coming out there. I hope that you surrender, but if you don't I'm prepared to die to protect you. Your love, Aaron The Seeker returns the letter. He didn't expect that. Though it isn't perfectly clear from the letter, it sounds as though Aaron and Illura were lovers, not siblings. He begins to realize the depths of some of these changes. At first he'd assumed that Scotty had had simply written him into the wrong storyline, but now he doubts that. Though that might have put him into this storyline, and it might have even put him in Aaron's body, he doubts that it would have altered the reality of the storyline so drastically. The Seeker realizes that something else must be wrong; something must be altering the very nature of Addventure. If that's true, then he has no idea what could happen. The storyline might change even more; he might find himself in yet another body, or yet another storyline; or, things might simply remain as they are forever. He stands and walks back to where Karen waits for him. He knows he has find out what's changing Addventure and repair it before things get out of hand. On the other hand, he remembers that in the original storyline there had been troubles throughout Zendara and Daria. Though things might be different in this storyline, he's not sure if his conscience will allow him to simply walk away from those troubles. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if he simply allowed Greger to die, or Alyssa to be imprisoned, or a rebel group in Daria to tear the entire country apart.
