Back into the village...

As you near the village, though, you see a flickering reddish light. Your heart leaps. Are you too late?

You sprint the rest of the way to the village and see violent flames and smoke rising -- but, to your surprise, it's not the shop that's caught fire, but the inn!

You hear shouting coming from the inn, and a few people on the top floor are looking down from their windows. From what you can see, the fire started on the bottom floor of the inn and has started to spread to the top floor.

The shopkeeper has come out form his shop and is staring in horror at the inn. He sees you and shouts, "What happened?"

"I don't know," you yell back.

Everyone in the inn is awake now, and screaming; a few of the residents of the upper floor are trying to climb down. One man jumps down, but he lands on his head. He screams, then his scream dies out and he stops moving. You look away.

You realize that you have to act quickly. You look around frantically. The entire bottom floor of the inn is ablaze; you don't think you can simply run inside and help people get out of the inn. There's a tall tree along one of the side walls; you might be able to cliimb up the tree and go in through a window, but that seems dangerous.
