You wonder how many people will be in a position to hear the noise that you
are going to make if you break the door down. "What is this place, and is
anyone likely
to hear us break down
the door?" you ask. "As I mentioned,
it's the village jail. It only has anyone in it once in a blue moon, which
probably
explains why the chain mountings had been allowed to decay." (So much for
your theory
that your father might be conniving at your escape, you think.) She goes
on: "The man
who brought in the bread and water is the jailer. He lives on the premises,

Then you go out of the back door of the jailhouse, to minimise the risk of being spotted, across a small garden, and into the woods that surround the village. There you are at last able to relieve yourself. No removal of clothes is required for this, since all you wear is the ragged brown dress - no underwear and, more seriously, no shoes. Apparently when they removed your armour, they saw no need to go to more than the minimum amount of trouble in providing you with what they would regard as proper woman's attire. You still want to go after Prince Aaron, although you have lost almost twentyfour hours and you know that your chances of catching up with him must now be remote. You get your sister, who remembers these woods well and can navigate them even in darkness, to guide you back to the path on the far side of the village from that on which you originally entered. Then:
