You're starving. You're not sure how long it's been since you've
eaten,
but it's obviously been too long. Taking a bundle of tall grass
from the
outskirts of the battlefield and lighting it with the fire still blazing
behind you to form a torch, you begin to explore the immediate area.
Fortunately, there are
some small bushes dotting the field from which you can steal a few berries.
You then crawl back into the ditch you woke up in, hoping that the fire
contains
itself within the city.
You eat just enough of the berries to pacify your complaining stomach, saving the rest for tomorrow. You then lay down and try to get some sleep. Unfortunately, as you try to sleep you can't get your mind to shut off. You're haunted by thoughts of the fire and the bodies and Aaron, as well as the burning question of your own identity. Your body wants to sleep but your mind refuses to rest for even a moment. After what seems like an eternity you give up. It's still night, and, as far as you can tell, still early. You know you need to do something to distract yourself, but you don't know what. Then you remember that you still have the letter you took from the Princess's body. You take it out and, having nothing better to do, read it.
I've recieved your message and followed your orders. A hundred troops are now stationed in the pass between Zendara and Daria. If anyone passes through the pass, I assure you that my soldiers will apprehend and execute the person. Believe me, I will not allow the New Amazons or their vile allies to escape your justice. Prince Samuel of Daria This is obviously not the letter that Prince Aaron thought it was. It sounds like King Hengist and the Prince of Daria have been conspiring against the New Amazons. Your stomach sinks when you realize that Aaron is probably in that very pass now. You have to save him. Unfortunately, you don't know where the pass is. And what happens if you don't reach Aaron in time?
