Chakotay thought for a moment and issued a set of orders. They would head
for the surface, looking for Wildman along the way. This mission was a
complete wash for the moment. Bieber, with his busted rib, could barely
walk and Mulcahey, while in no danger whatsoever, was so blasted on
painkillers for his arm as to be useless (and even more emotional).
Chakotay took point while Seven gaurded the rear. Carey would be near Chakotay, scanning for the materials they need. If a chunk of rock on the way back had what they had come looking for, fine. If not, it could go to blazes. Once the team was safe, they could bring the whole ship and find Wildman much more safely. Mulcahey had Bieber lean on his strong side. They made an odd sight, wobbling together like that but it worked. Shortly Chakotay came to a realization.
